Next Polarized or Powerful? April 30th!
|
|
Things are changing so rapidly. Between the economic recession, the stimulus package and local plans to update the policies that will drive growth in
Portland, everything is up in the air. How can we make good decisions in a climate of uncertainty? How can the community come together to support each other? How can we know that what we think is our best interest is good for our neighbors? What do we need to change about our relationship with each other to not only weather the change, but create the community of our dreams together? Please join us for five new community dialogue series on last Thursdays. The next event is Thursday, April 30 at
St Andrews
Community Center, 806 NE
Alberta from 6:30-8:30 PM, dinner provided!
Sponsored by ONI in partnership with SE Uplift, CNN, NECN, CIO and Oregon Action. To reserve childcare or to RSVP, 503 823-4112 judith.mowry@ci.portland.or.us.

Support the Right Budget for Neighborhood Involvement!
|
|
The Mayor's Proposed Budget will be available in early May for review and online testimony. The community budget hearing is May 21st for public testimony. There is still time to support a budget that maintains important neighborhood programs, makes the most of volunteer contributions, and provides vital services to neighbors including:
- Preserving the Neighborhood Small Grants Program
- Direct support for navigating City process on land use and transportation issues
- Community engagement through trainings, workshops, events and networking
- Responding to emerging interests to improve and maintain the livability of our communities, such as the CNN LUTOP Committee and small project support
- Neighborhood communications and web site assistance
To make your voice heard please write Mayor Adams and our commissioners to express your support of the "Right Budget" for ONI and for CNN neighborhoods. For more information or sample letters contact us at 503-823-2780, sandral@cnncoalition.org.

Bicycle and Streetcar Open Houses in May
|
|
Help us shape
Portland's future transportation system. The City of
Portland is developing two important transportation plans. The Streetcar System Plan looks at extending
Portland's successful streetcar system throughout the City. The 1996 Bicycle Master Plan, which made
Portland the top bicycling city in the nation, is being updated looking ahead to creating a world-class bicycle city for the next generation. What will
Portland's transportation system look like in 2030? The NE Open House is Thursday May 14, 4-7p at
Grant
High School,
2245 NE 36th Ave.

Airport Way Interchange Open House
|
|
How many afternoons have you been caught in traffic on
Airport Way heading east to I-205 to go home or work? Based on recent traffic studies, we know that drivers travelling through this interchange accessing I-205 north can experience delays of up to 45 minutes. To address this problem, Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Port of Portland began a project in fall 2007 to improve the flow of traffic accessing I-205 north at the Airport Way interchange. This spring, transportation planners completed traffic modeling for three transportation improvement alternatives. Join the Open House with project planners on April 22nd 4:30-7p at 11611 NE Ainsworth Circle east of I-205 on Airport Way to comment on improvements. ODOT and the Port will consider this public input before recommending a preferred alternative for final design in May. For more information, contact Christine Egan, 503-235-5881, Christine@jla.us.com, Project Website.
