Neighborhood Associations Work to Reflect the Issues and Needs of their Geographic Community
The City of Portland's community involvement system gives residents the ability to provide input at the local level. Participation in one of 95 Neighborhood Associations is voluntary and open to all residents who live, own property or a business within a neighborhood's boundaries. Neighborhood Associations have the responsibility to advocate about issues that affect the livability and quality of a specific geographic community. Each association is self-governed by its bylaws that determine boundaries, the election and function of officers, and the frequency of meetings.
