What's New on NE 82nd!
On Friday April 27th Portland Parks launched the first district Skatepark on NE 82nd by Madison High School. Hundreds of youth and experienced skaters including Gregory Heights SUN program arrived with skateboard in hand ready to try out the new park. Event speakers recognized partners such as the SPLAT committee, Madison High School, Madison South NA, Roseway NA, and CNN. On the same day Madison High hosted the 82nd Avenue of Roses rose planting in the front the school!

82nd Avenue Parade on Saturday April 28 Breathed New Life into the Area
Exert from ABNBA's Business Voice--see link left
The parade was a great success with the spectators who held up cards grading all the entrants as "10". There were the requisite princesses, a color guard, music, a dancing dragon, a banjo playing potato, fire engines, volunteers manning the barriers, and of course, the police who saw to it that everything moved smoothly across 82nd at Powell and Division as well as all the other intersections. --Definitely worth repeating. Plan to join them next year, either as a participant or a spectator.

Help Design Bicycle Boulevards in N & NE Portland!
Bicycle boulevards are a new tool being used to increase the appeal and safety of bicycling in Portland. Bicycle boulevards are low-traffic neighborhood streets optimized for bicyclists, making them comfortable for both new and experienced riders. They are direct, providing a safe and attractive alternative to riding along busy arterial streets.
The Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA) is developing a plan for a new network of bicycle boulevards in North and Northeast Portland. You can help by telling us where you like to ride your bike in North and Northeast Portland.

Visit the BTA homepage at http://www.bta4bikes.org for a link, or go directly to the survey at http://tinyurl.com/262h5c.
