| Ainsworth Street Collective: a Sustainable Community in Cully |
The Ainsworth Street Collective (ASC) is a group of neighbors who are working to build social, environmental, and economic opportunities at the "micro-neighborhood" level, bounded by 42nd Avenue and 60th Avenue, with Lombard to the north, and Jarrett to the south. Social interactions range from a first Sunday potluck gathering to discuss neighborhood issues and a monthly wholesale food club to daily yoga classes and a summer camp for children. Beyond the social element, there is a deeper impact that ASC has made on the neighborhood. The collective has started several initiatives to reduce their impact on the environment from providing education from installing solar panels, building rainwater receptacles, to creating a community garden. |
