| Youth Photography Exhibit at CNN Sept. 1st |
This spring, with the support of the Central Northeast Neighbors (CNN) Grant Program, My Story partnered with Hacienda CDC to offer a photography workshop to an enthusiastic group of youth. In this 5-session workshop, youth ages 11-17 from Cully, explored their identity, dreams, and cultural values in a stunning collection of community portraits. These young photographers worked together in groups, and had opportunities to take cameras home to photograph the things that matter most in their lives.
CNN is hosting an exhibit of the work by these talented youth. Don't miss this unique opportunity to encounter community through the eyes of Latino and Somali youth. Come view the photos and accompanying stories from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, September 1st at CNN, 4415 NE 87th Ave. off of Sandy Blvd. For more information please contact Sandra Lefrancois at 503-823-2780, or sandral@cnncoalition.org. Light refreshments provided. |

| Free Guided Bicycle Rides Tuesdays in Madison South |
Free bike rides for neighbors new to biking or new to the area starting from Glenhaven Park (just north of Madison High School, 2735 NE 82nd Ave.) every Tuesday evening in August. The rides are open to all, though helmets are required and kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The rides take about one and a half to two hours and highlight streets that have less traffic and lower speeds - they're designed for the "interested but concerned" riders in the area. The rides are part of the Portland By Cycle program of the SmartTrips Green Line project. The full calendar of rides and classes can be found here. |
